I helped a neighbor move some stuff to clean out a shed, and one of the last things was a David Bradley (looks like Sears) chainsaw from $deity only knows when. She offered it to me and I figured if it's crap I'll throw it in the pile of scrap I'm taking down to the metal recycling place.

Anyone own one of these ancient beasts? Pull cord is broken, she claims it still ran the day the cord broke. So, anyone with chainsaw lore know if this things worth tinkering with?

I have sold 2 of these in the past on ebay . Neither was running I got 60.00 ea. out of them. They are collectable to the right person. But has for using it as a saw. Well all I can say is dont mess with a guy that can run a david bradley all day. Them things are heavy. I believe david bradley was sold by sears.

Do a search for "David Bradley" on ebay . You`ll get a lot of auctions for two wheel walk behind garden tractors but the chain saws as well. I have three "David Bradley" two wheeled garden tractors as well as one bottom plow, snow blade, bar mower, cultivator and much more. You could also find any parts pretty much if your into restoration....Rick

As riverrat says......... dust er' off, drain the fluids, and list
it on ebay. Make sure you charge a good shipping/handling
amount, it's easy to get burned on the bigger stuff.

That's exactly what I did. Insertion fees weren't bad and if it sells, well, it's not in my shed anymore.

And for those who might want a laugh my Bose Wave Radio auction-

Thanks for the advice. I'd never have thought "wow, I bet someone collects these"

Thats a pretty decent looking DB saw. I have seen a lot of them that look much worse than that. I know there are some guys from the David Bradley group on yahoo in Washington state so I think you`ll do ok with your auction. If it werent for the shipping I`d consider bidding on it. Its a fer piece from yonder to here. When I was young and foolish my brother in law and I cut pulp wood during the day and were both weldors working 2nd shift. First day in the woods I borrowed his Lamb chainshaw close to 35 pounds, liked to retire me that day. Next day went and bought and brand new saw ...G`luck with your auction...Rick

Beast is the right name .We got one back in the mid to late 50's. It was much better than the axe or the sweed saw for speed but the weight would put a hump on your back. Weight was about 40lb. dry.You had to pump a plunger to oil the chain. Yes we got it from sears and roebuck like we got most things those days. Sell it to a collector or clean it up and display it,can't be to many around.
