Hello folks,

I moved 2 of my 7 hives this morning while it was cool and the bees we all inside. The move was about 100 yards from front yard to back yard. I did the branch thing and also put empty hives in place of where others were at. I'm getting some bees coming back to the old locations.
My question is do I let the hives set till the end of day or next morning then close them up and 1. just set them next to the moved hives or 2. do I have to take the empties apart and brush bees off next to the moved hives?

Thanks for everyones input!!

Just shake the frames containing the "lost" bees at the entrace of their hives. They'll figure out what to do. You could plug the entrance lightly with grass, by the time they have found a way through, they will automaticly reoriante to the new location:).

I looked at both old locations, pretty good bit of bees found there way back and they're not happy, pretty much chased me and my dog back in the house.
I guess I'll wait till late this afternoon or first thing in the morning, would one be better over the other?

I'd wait til just before dark, a couple days of moving them to the new location will take care of the problem:).
