Do you that use OA, drizzle your package while they are still in the box ???
Put them in the hive , while the queen is still caged, and drizzle ????
Dont bother with it at all ???

That would be my plan. Powdered sugar is probably a better plan for caged bees, but I haven't done that either.
Michael, that is probably the best time to treat the hives with OA.

It's a great time for either, powered sugar or OA. What do you want to bet that package is broodless? LOL Maybe you can get that great beekeeper and famous inventor to tell you about the mighty mite.

I'm under the impression that most package producers treat with chems before they ship
is this not true?
I thought they needed a piece of paper saying the bees are "clean"

they need a health certificate which is acquire thru the state bee inspector (at least here in texas this is how it is done) that is acquired months before the bee are shipped. I think the document (which need to be notorized if you were off at some distance) I signed (last year) said... 'to the best of you knowledge the bees are free of disease'.... or something to that effect.

From what I have read a lot of the apiaries that make package bees spray the
packages with sucrocide after the bees are caged up in the package. I don't
think I'd bother with treating them. You might call the supplier and see if they do
this when they make their packages.

In WV a certificate of health is good for six months.
