does anyone have a link to some info about the shb lifecycle?
all reports are that feeding pollen can cause big problems with shb and I've heard that the solution is to not leave the patties in long enough for the beetles to go through their brood cycle
how long can you leave em? 1 week? two? a month?

hmm, looks like you'd need to check weekly

drob, I can't say if it works for everyone but I've had real good luck using a real small pattie( 1 1/2 to 2" X 1/4"). Takes more trips to feed, but when ya jus got to feed...it works for me. Just make sure the bees can get to all parts of the pattie. I put 2 to 4 around the top bars, never seen any larvea in them yet.

the only time I've tried sub so far was last winter in my ohive
the shb were all over it but fortunately in an ohive this gave me a chance to kill them:)
my other hives are in the backyard so frequent trips aren't a problem
I'll take your advice on the small patties
