I Have Found Some 100% Cotton Rope At Walmrt For FGMO Emu Usage But Was Wondering What Is The Correct Size 3/16, 5/16, 7/32 Etc. This Rope Is For Cloths Line Use And Should Not Fray As Bad As The Mop Heads. Also Has Anbody Thought Of Useing Thumb Tacks To Keep It In Place Untill It Is Replaced At The 2 Week Interval To Keep It From Getting Inbetween The Frames And Make It Harder For Them To Remove. Also Was Thinking To Place It In A Zig Zag Patern From Front To Back.

I think most people use mop heads so they will fray eaiser so the bees will work harder at removeing them. I would think (no eXpert here) that if they cant remove it they may just propolize it.

just me .02 cents and that aint worth much.

Just curious about the replacing every 2 weeks, I read once a month in Dr. R's info.
I was thinking about putting it in a tin pie pan or something like that. It looks like Dr. R had a drawer built in the box to make it easy to replace.

There always people who need it complicated.

Put a Thymol strip or any other Thymol product in your hive the write time and you will solve the problem.......The result is several times better and much easier to handle.

You can grind Thymol crystals in an OLD coffee grinder (if you are married, don’t do it in your kitchen) and sprinkle a tip of the knife from this powder on top of each frame.
Bees remove the crystals in no time but the fine powder is more difficult to carry out.

Whenever you use any kind of Thymol remember it is NOT a winter treatment.

Why is that?
