The Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Association is presenting a great short course in January - January 19, 2008. Here's the website:

http://www.beekeepingshortcourse.com/

Jamie Ellis, his wife Amanda (who has her PhD in biology), and others are presenting. I'm heading a panel of beginning beekeepers - doing a funny presentation about the trials and tribulations of first year beekeeping and having other beekeeping beginners telling their tales.

The course is good - it's how I got started in beekeeping - I literally left the course and ordered my bees right away and started my beekeeping blog.

If you sign up because of this post, tell them I sent you!

Not to put too fine a point on it but Jamie and Amanda both have PhDs in entomology....which is actually better than biology!

Thanks, you're absolutely right - Amanda's PhD is in entomology. I've only heard her talk about botany and remembered wrong - should have checked befoe posting. I heard her talk about botany, bees and plant biology.....oh, well, getting old is the pits!
