Hello wonderful bee people.
I am very excited about starting a hive and would like to know
any referrals for a good list of essential equipment, recommendations
of good companies to order from, and a source for a good
bee suit...I met a friend who recommends Sheriff.
Any useful advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
nile:)

For buying equipment, I have found that all the companies basically sell good quality stuff. Look for someplace close to you, driving distance if possilbe, to save on shipping. Western Bee Supply out of Montana is relatively close to you. They have good products at good prices.

Get involved with a local beekeeping group:

While online forums such as this are great sources of info, much of beekeeping is local. Local beeks will know what works best in your area. Having someone nearby who can help mentor you is priceless. The locals will also know which bee supply companies have authorized distributors near you (save on shipping). Plus, hanging out with other beekeepers is just plain fun!
