Someone on ebay is selling plastic honey strainers, and claims they "clean better, filter better, and hold more filtered items (wax, bee parts, broken frame parts, etc) than the stainless steel models"
Does anyone have any experience to back up or refute this claim? I've been eyeballing the SS models, but these are 1/2 the price...

I have used both and they both work. I found the stainless easier to clean.

The ss one will last you a lifetime, if of course, you don't run over it, or someone steals it, or the wife claims it or....uh:D. Get the ss one, you'll be happier...where abouts you from.........:D.

I use both. The SS one for rough filtering from the extractor spout.
The plastic ones are finer and you can stage the size down if you like, but I warm the honey to 105 and run it through the 200 micron. That is fine enough for me.

Just a little advice for what it's worth. If the seller of these plastic strainers on Ebay is the same one I'm thinking of, you will like Brushy Mtn. or Kelley's prices much, much better. I thought they were asking way too much compared to what the regular retailers wanted for the plastic ones. We use a combination of strainers and heat it somewhat to flow easier.

Thanks, all. I hadn't compared the ebay price to Dadant, etc. but you are right! The ebay price is about 2x MORE. I've always preferred quality to bargain prices (although I love it when I can get BOTH!) so I think I'll stick with SS.
