Bees are great recyclers! This one is gathering propolis from outside the hive to bring inside. Notice the pollen baskets are full of propolis.

This is a view just under my telescoping lid. I place a sheet of metal screen and a queen excluder on my topmost super for ventilation in the summer. It keeps out the small hive beetles and wax moths.

The bees propolize the screen along the edges so it sticks like glue and seals predator entrances. It's easy to tear it off and reseal as needed.

I find wax moths and shb loitering above the screen, but they can't get in. Less bees guarding the top means more bees gathering nectar!

Corbicula. That's what they really are, not pollen baskets ;) I just love that word.

I tried a propolis trap this summer. I took it off after I noticed bee's from another hive robbing the propolis off. I planned on making something this winter to allow light in and keep bee's out.

You take some great bee pics
