An old timer near me is looking to sell several "new" unopened boxes of 5 pound honey cans that have been in a loft perhaps 40 years.

Does anyone know if it is still OK, or legal, or a good idea to sell honey in those old tins. I'm concerned that they may have some sort of solder in the can assembly that does not meet todays standards.

Do the tins have wide tops or small tops. What I was thinking if they are wide tops they could be used for gift boxes. Maybe a few small bottles of different honey's, a few candle's, well you get the idea.

Here is the type I was thinking of

The gift box is a great idea kc. From what I saw (not much) the cans looked like small paint cans with a wide mouth. Thanks.

That ebay item is amazing. $26. I'm going to go check out the cans full of nuts and bolts in my garage.
