HI:
I live in upstate S.C and back around Easter we had two hard freezes that killed 95% of the early flow from then to now we have been in a sever drought recently temps ut to 104 needles to say there is nothing blooming no feed for the bees at all.
I am feeding pure sugar syrup which the bees are taking pretty well, the only thing about this is they are using most of it to live and not storing hardly any. If they continue as they are there want be any where near enough stores to carry them through the winter.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I may do other than what I'm doing to improve this situation and maybe get enough stores to carry them through the winter?
There doesn't appear to be any relief for the drough in the near future 100 today 101 for tommarow the 98-99 for the next few days.

Thanks
Barney

I would feed like you but feed 2 parts sugar to 1 part water. For late fall and winter I would make candy boards or purchase them.

I would have to say if they are not putting anything away, then you are probably not feeding enough. I use gallon and a half frame feeders. It takes about two days for them to take it down, but there are at least 3 frames filled with sugar syrup upon inspection.
