I read a article in the AM paper on people working past age of 65. The article mentions, "Waldo McBurney, a 104 year-old beekeeper from Kansas, who was recently declared America's oldest worker".
Hope I am still doing it at 104. :o

Waldo is quite a guy. If you can get a copy of his book you will see he has had an interesting life. It's a short read and well worth it.

He's starting to slow down his bee business... he's down to around 'only' 150 hives this year. He is interesting to say the least.

Bob Harrison did an article on Waldo McBurney in the fall of 2003 for Bee Culture magazine if you save old Bee Cultures.
The title was :
"Centurian Beekeeper"

Found his book on Amazon.com and ordered a copy. I figured I could sneak and read it and then regift it to my 93 year old mother - she should get a kick out of it. :)
Thanks for the suggestion.
By the way, " hope I am still doing 'it'" includes beekeeping, skiing, fishing and other 'fun' things that keep the heart pumping. :o

Good bye to a wonderful Beekeeper and Icon for us. I did not know him. But my heart goes out to those who did.
