I got a call from a gal in Waupaca who has a colony in the exterior wall between the siding and a chimney. She seems like she realizes the siding must come off and she sounds willing to pay. She would like to save the bees but is open to suggestions I think. If anyone is interested they can PM me or call 715-229-4766.

One last try before I call her and tell her she should call an exterminator.:(

How many days do "we" have do make a decision about this? Wish I could, since I live "nearby" but have NO experience with this.

I suggest she leave the bees until March or April. There is a good chance they will die out during a Wis. winter. Than she can just have the openings caulked with silicone when it is warm enough for them to fly, if there are none to be seen. If they are still there, it will be much easier to find a beek willing to do the removal.

Iddee that is a good idea. A couple problems only, first I see is this pretty much dooms them as they moved in only a couple weeks ago from what I can tell. Since we have had no substantial flow they will likely starve by spring unless we get one heck of a fall flow, and that is looking iffy. Plus she is concerned about the mess if they do die over winter. But you are right about finding someone wanting them this time of year, we don't get anywhere near as excited a bout even easy swarms to get this time of year as we do in June..
Maybe Oldbee will come to the rescue?
Oldbee, why don't you call and see what it entails? They might be way easier to get than you think? Talking to her doesn't mean you have to commit to take them.:)
