Ten minutes ago. Swarm from a five frame nuc. Landed eye level on an apple tree limb. From start of swarm to hiving into another nuc....about 10 minutes. That was easy.... ;)

Jumpin' Jehosophat! That was quick! Great job, BjornBee --
It is nice when things work out easily... For me, I'd have to round up boxes, get the dogs out of the way, find snips to cut the branch, or shake 'em down, get the dogs out of the way again... Way more than ten minutes. You must have been a Boy Scout - "Always Prepared".

BB.... ;)
No. Started in a five framer. With a couple frames of honey so they don't starve. I'll wait a week to see what they want to do with the queen. If she's laying and no supercedure cells started, I'll add a couple frames of brood and swap with a stronger location. Next year, that hive will net me about 300 dollars. And BB, thats no bull! ;)
MM, And yes, I was a boy scout.

I had pretty much the same thing happen to me this week too.
I had a cut out that decided that the queen was responsible for their home being ripped apart and made about fifteen queens and threw at least two swarms that I saw.
The first one last week went up a tree with about three foot of poison ivy under it. :( Bye, bye bees. :(
The second one was while I was talking to a guy from the city marking water sewer locations when it came up out of the hive, flew around for a couple of minutes and landed in a stack of empty hive boxes. :D
I expect a bird house colony to swarm in the next day or two. I saw a lot of bees checking out another stack of boxes tonight.
