I have the option of buying corn sugar to add to my sugar syrups is it worth the hassle. Do you think that it would be better for the Bees. I can get some other types of sugars as well.( i have friends who own a beer and wine making supply store) i was just thinking that adding the other types of sugar might increase the sugars benefit. let me know what you think.

-thanks jeff

why? sugar is the best food (next to nectar) that you can feed bees
where would the corn sugar come from? there has been some discussion that ccd may bee related to genetic mutations in corn sugar. worth the risk? you can decide. i would recommend more research before using something that might not bee healthy for your girls. along those lines,i was asked todayif i would reccomend feeding a sugar beet type of molasses to bees. it seems that the dairy industry feeds something like this on the hay they feed cows in the winter to give them more energy? if anyone knows what this is please post your ideas

I'd say you're overthinking it. just feed them the cheap sugar.

Sugar is easily available, and cheap. Why use anything else, besides perhaps HFCS.

Moonlight... Molasses (Blackstrap) is actually a by-product during the manufacture of cane sugar. We used it in custom mixes for our livestock as it helps as a binder for the mix, supplements the grain for minerals (esp. sulfur), for increased energy, and increased crude protein + ~3-4%. Higher protein in the forage results in more milk in the bucket...

I wouldn't use molasses for beekeeping - bees don't take well to milking.;)
