As I have stated before I have two hives started this spring. One of the hives has superceeded their queen and at the moment has two queens, one in the upper hive body and one in the lower. My daughters want to know what becomes of the old queen. I asked the only beek I know and he had no idea. Well who's got the answer? Thanks Rob.

The old queen usually just dies off from neglict. Once her phermone production drops below what the workers reconize, they will quit feeding her, and she will die. I have had them winter together before. Sometimes the workers or the new queen will kill her, but more often than not I suspect they starve:).
