I eat honey for allergies it seams to help I dont get near has sick since I started using local honey. have several people who buy honey from me for there allergies I gues it must help them to or the wouldnt be coming back for more.
I do know it takes awhile for it to start working. I havent seen any scientific studies to back up the claims dont even know if there has been any substantial studies. the pollen in the honey would have to be from the allergen you are allergic to to help. I have started collecting pollen and taking it has a vitamin My thinking is the pollen would have a better chance of helping allergies than honey. the amout of pollen in honey is low.

A proponent of this theory should be able to explain how pollen we absorb through the small intestine counteracts the effects of the same pollen we absorb through mucous membranes in the respiratory tract. It seems bogus to me.

I've often thought that there is no theory so outlandish that you can't get some people to believe it. The fact that some people have claimed that they have eaten local honey and then noticed a reduction in allergy symptoms is not in my estimation reliable evidence of the effect you suggest.

Since I don't have allergy problems (yet), I can't say from a personal experience, but most of my honey customers buy the honey for their allergies.

I don't have allergies either... but I had several people come back to buy honey from me that swore up and down they didn't have to take their allergy medicine anymore.

I find it hard to believe that it would be that effective but who am I to argue. My sons both have allergies and eat alot of honey. I've seen no noticeable benefit to them. They are miserable without their allergy medicine.

I never even talk about allergy benefits to my customers. If they bring it up... I just say that I have no allergies so I can't say for sure.

Maybe its very individual... I don't know!

When folks tell me that my honey has really helped them with their allergies, I say "That's wonderfull" and ask if they would like to buy more. :-)

There is no scientific evidence that the pollen/honey thing works. But, people also claim that putting a bar of soap under the bed sheets eliminates leg and foot cramps. I guess if you believe it to be true for you, then it must work.
