View Full Version : How to set up honey house Need advice!

Hi Everyone,,
OK so I am very very lucky, Did I say I was Lucky, My Grandfather was a local Beekeeper Just north of Tucson. He had about 150 colonys one year, most others 50 to 75 or so.. He pased away in 98 well in 2004 I recived all his stuff dubble decaper lots of warming tanks 2 extractors 4 frame and 33 frame, enuf woodware to make 100 standard 9 tall boxes Just need tops and bottoms, In the future I will be seting up a honey house SO need advice. Thanks bill W, I keep 4 colonys right now.

All I can say is make it as big as you can afford I made one 14 X 24 and divided it for a 10 X 14 storage room and it is too small now. I did not have any more room to make it larger. Also put in at least a 4 ft. door. Cement floor with a drain. I put a 1 ¼ slope on the floor to the center drain and wish I had went at least 2 inches, the water drains ok but is slow.

I plan to build it about 40x60 with only part for honey and bee stuff. I could use some Pics of how to set up equipment and I need help on electric motors etc.. for extractors and blending tank and how much power to put in 200 amp? any advice will help I will post pics when i am able to..

Go with a tankless water heater if you can afford it. I put in a Bosh and get a continuous 150F water. Very nice for cleanup.
