This BB is truly international. We have folks from Europe, Central America, Canada, and now me from the Middle East (on deployment from Texas). Looking forward to reading your future posts and learning from you.
Unfortunately, south Texas has had AHB for years, but it is getting worse. My wife just got a call from a lady with a honey tree that has been near her house for years. Suddenly, the bees have turned very aggressive, going after her on her lawnmower over 30 feet away, and stinging her mother while she was watching the grandkids on a swing. That cannot continue. She was baffled because for years she had enjoyed watching the bees in the tree. My wife explained the swarming reproductive cycle of honey bees and how it is likey that the new queen mated with an AHB, possibly over the last several swarms, resulting in an aggressive colony.
I saw a documentary on PBS about AHB in Arizona. Frightening. It made me feel like a real wimp with my sometimes testy girls. (I had to requeen one hive because of AHB mating) Some of the folks in my bee association tried farming AHB, but finally gave it up because it just got too dangerous.
