View Full Version : Trouble using search ??
The total forum is much improved, bur the old search was much easier to use. I keep getting an error message "under the mininum word length" when that is not so. Also to test the system I tried to search for things that I know are there and they are not found. Am I doing something wrong or is the new search system faulty?

The system works. The minimum word length thing looks at each individual word in a search request. I.e. of you are looking for Clearing out a super, drop the 2 and three letter words, use clearing super. Or conversely put the phrase in quotes if you are trying to find a particular phrase, e.g. "Clearing out a super".
It isn't intuitive when you just click on the search button, at least it wasn't to me.

I think the problem is that when the error message says "minimum word length" - we interpet that to mean the number of "words" . However, the error message seems to be referring to too many words with less than 4 letters.
for instance:
how to draw comb (the search engine doesnt like the how and to - both of which as under 4 letters)
is not as good as search as
drawing comb
I thinkk:D

Read this post. It has some ideas in it as well.

I love how fast the new search function works.
