Does anyone know a good way to keep ants out of the hivetop feeders?
Use cinnamon sprinkle it over the bars before you close the lid and all around the hive body. I do this 2 or three times a season and after bad rain storms. I did not believe it untill I saw it with my own eyes. I also heard there some types of ant this will not work for I believe it was fire ants.

I am talking about all out invasion. cinnamon works on a light aproach, this is all out no holds bar war. yes i have done the comon methods.need a reliable fix.every thing seems to be hit and or mise. some old timer told me to spray area with diesel.thats not going to happen.WHAT ABOUT FOGING WITH FGMO ;)RDY-B
If you want a sure fire method search it here Michael Bush has a borax concoction he was talking about last year or so. Thanks for not using the diesel. Most people do not know 1 drop of a petroleum product contaminates 1 million drops of ground water.

I am suprised none of the fogers are steping up to chime in.maybe they are a sielent bunch. maybe i will buy the **** foger and blaze the trail for ANT CONTROL:D RDY-B

Fogging with FGMO/Thymol does nothing for ant control. The only thing that I have found is the use of Cinnimon or placing the legs of the hive stand in cans of FGMO so the ant's have to cross the mote to get to the hive. Also be sure that weeds or grass do not touch the hive or stand. I have tried tangle foot on the legs but found that you need to re-apply it weekly and the ants soon bridge the gap with ant bodies.
