When I work my bees they always seem very gentle but after I finish and take off my gear, I've had bees pester me thirty minutes later if I was in the back the yard and not even near the hive. Is it unusual for them to stay somewhat agitated following an inspection? Usually its only a single bee and not a bunch that keep buzzing me but I've had this happen several times and have been stung this way about three times.

Where do you take off your equipment?

Make sure all the bees are off of you before taking it off. I've had to kill a few bees that have trailed me back to the honey house to keep from getting stung.

If I broke into your house then left, I bet you would be a little irritated for a day or so.

Don't worry, they will calm down by the next day or two. Many of my hives are a bit agitated for the remainder of the day after I work them, but by the next day or two, I can sit next to their hives, drink a hard cider, and watch them fly in and out without a single sting or head but.

Besides, you are easier to sting when you have your gear off.
