I went out tonight and opened up my strong hive they ate all the sugar water and many have hatched out over the last week I took the top feeder which I got from Mann lake the black one with the wire and to my surprise the had started to build bridge comb on where they were to walk up to feed, so I pulled it off they had eaten all the sugar water. I have 9 frames of comb in they are drawing new comb on all, last week I move the frames around and put the full ones out of the middle and move the empty ones in. I got honey in some and brood they looked like they needed more room they were stacked on top each other all over the frames.
Should I keep feeding them even when the build comb on the top feeder?
Did I do the right thing? Or should I put the feeder back on.
My other hive still has bees with brood and new comb from last week but they are very week. They don’t eat very much sugar is this normal
Both hive were put inform pakgs. of 4-30 07
Any thought s from anyone

I'd keep the feeder on. I use a BetterBee Polystyrene feeder and they did the same thing. If you keep the feeder full they will make sure that they have route to the food.
Keep feeding your other hive. Also check the queen's condition. It's probably to early to tell, but you may want to re-queening. Give 'em time.

I'd try to keep the frames of brood together as they were. You don't really want to take a frame of brood from the center then isolate on the outside

Is this a two box hive? If not it's time for the second box. Try not to break up your brood nest. It disturbs the bees and could freeze the brood.

I just went out and put the feeders on and yesterday I put on another brood box five comb and 4 frames with fondation. I thought they might take off. The good thing is I saw no cells at the bottoms of the frames.
When I put the feeder on the strong hive I saw bees on top of the frames scopping out the new box. about 200 or so.
The weather in Wiconsin is nuts rain all weekend we need it but is only about 70 sunday and today its 61 it been nuts one week in the 50's and then a few day in the 80's back down to 60 this week. Today high of 65 and the same until middle of week lots of rain. So much for living by the big Lake
My week hive looks like they are doing ok working the hive and filling some cells with drone and some brood. Last week I took a cell off the bottom of one frame they have not worked up another I may or may not had a swam looks like the same amt. of bees that I had two weeks ago.
I have been checking on this hive once a week the other about everyother week.
Is there a way to know if they have taken off I have looked all over have many trees around in the back so site of them on a tree??
Thanks for all your help
