I am thinking to start an early extracting of this very very light honey the bees have been bringing. I tried some supers and here in CT and South East NY. We have very light very mild flavor honey, almost like water looking.
Dandelions nectar is mostly used for brood rearing but this year I saw the bees storing it in the suppers, we had honeysuckle and black locust is still going on.
The bees have almost sealed at least 2 supper per hive and this is a chance to do some early extracting and marked this as spring light honey. This is turning to be one of those years that we love.
No swarming on big hives at all, some nucs swarmed that were overcrowded.
Is anyone from northeast thinking of extracting and any specific ideas on the source of the nectar?

I agree that this year is finally gearing up nicely. I added second and some third supers today. I usually don't extract until the middle of july but may need to start earlier. Here locust is winding down and white and red clover is starting.

I extracted a little last week. I agree with you, dandelion-honeysuckle-black locust honey. Very light and bright yellow and delightful.

The frames were only half sealed, but the moisture content was plenty low. The flow was still strong so harvest was a pleasure. The bees completely ignored me and the harvested frames. They are filling them up again as we speak.

I have a bunch of water white vetch honey on snow white comb. I'm really tempted to do cut comb with all of it.
