A couple of times now, I have logged in and begun to reply to someones message. Some of the replies are lengthy, and I am a slow thinker. By the time the reply is ready to post, apparently I have been logged out.

Is this a "feature" or an "issue" ?

Funny thing... this has happened to me too. I learned the hard way after typing a really long post. Now I make sure I highlight what I have typed, copied it, and if I got logged out, I log in and paste the message and send.

works every time!

When it happens to me There's a little message that comes up and let's me log in. It also saves what I've written and posts it. Maybe that's just my browser? 'dunno.

I stay logged in all the time, and have no problems. In fact, I have never logged out of beesource, why would I want to?:)

I've never been kicked. Not even a time-out. ;)

Same here, but really, you're not logged in all the time, you're just automagically logged in whenever your session has timed out.

The HTTP protocol is stateless.. the Beesource server after it's served you up a page has no idea if you're still sitting there at the computer, or in your car on your way to the store. Cookies are used to maintain a session of sorts and can be set to expire after a period of time varying from a few minutes to days, weeks, or years- or never. By checking the "log me in automatically" box when you log in, a cookie is set in your browser that contains the information necessary to log you in when your session has timed out. Easy. Convenient. Insecure :)
