View Full Version : Fogging during honey flow??
I read and read the FGMO/thymol forum but still wonder.... how do I fog with FGMO/thymol during the honey flow? If mite counts are on the rise, does it make any sense to remove the supers for a few hours, fog, let things clear, then put the supers back on? Or, do the bees move enough honey up from my two deeps that it does not matter if the supers are on or off?

Is anyone still using mineral oil for mite control?

Many are still fogging and most fog with supers on.

I fog with supers on and this does not seem to affect the honey at all. I have not had any after taste or thymol or oil. If the recipe for Dr. pedros's mix is correct than there shouldn't be any residue in the honey or wax.

Howdy Dave --
Yes, some of us still get good results with FGMO. I am in my seventh year of fogging and it still works. Building resistance to fog would be like becoming immune to drowning.

I fog during the honey flows with FGMO/Thymol as Dr. Rodregaz outlined.
I was running a 3 year test when a fire last Christmas destroyed 2 years of data. I am starting again this year. During the first 2 years of the test samples of the wood, comb, and honey were sent to lab's for testing using a gas chromatagraph. No acomulations of FGMO or Thymol were found beyond those normally occuring in nature. My relatives and close neighbors have been enjoying the honey and do not detect anyoff flavors in it.
