I need help on this one, I have 1 litre of solution at 80% concentrate and I need it down to 65%. How much water do I need to add to get the required dilution?

The way I calculate it, you need to add about 230 mL of water, or 0.23 liters, to dilute an 80% solution to 65%.
(I used the equation: (volume1)(concentration1) = (volume2)(concentration2). In this, (1 liter) (0.80) = (final volume) (0.65), so the final volume is 1.231 liters. Subtract the initial volume, and you should get the amount you need to add.)

Many thanks Kieck.
I just could not get my head around it at all

Kieck, I am glad you are on this forum....as a business major in college, I would have had to call the Cornell cooperative extention to get an answer for that one! It's been way too long since my college algebra class...
