It might be wise to carry a penny in your pocket while working in the yard..........
After being stung by both a bee and hornet while working in the garden.
Arm swelled up.
Off to the doctor,
Cream and an antihistamine.
Next day the swelling got progressively worse; Infected arm
Needed an antibiotic.
What was interesting is that the Doctor suggested that putting a penny on the bite for 15 minutes the next time.
A week later, another bee sting (2 of them) while deadheading flowers.
Promptly went into the house
Got out a penny
Taped two pennies to my bites and then sat and sulked for 15 minutes.
The penny took the string out of the bite immediately. The next morning -- no swelling, no redness, no itching, no pain.
Just wanted to share the marvelous information in case any of you are experiencing the same problem at home.
The Doctor said somehow the copper in the penny counteracts the bite.
So remember this little bit of wisdom and pass it on to your friends, children, grandchildren, etc.

I'd say after 15 minutes of holding anything on a sting, that the pain will go away......... ;)
