Honey Bees were protected by law?

I am starting a drive to get beekeepers across the country to write to their representatives and try and get a law protecting honey bees from extermination. Due to the threat of CCD I feel it is important to protect all the living colonies we have in this country, feral or otherwise. Please take the time to write your representative by following this link.

Also if you can find contact info for your state reps. and send a carbon copy to them a well, the federal government would be more likely to act faster after individual states pass their own laws.

I know this seems like a tall order, but the country is run by those who show up. I think that taking five minutes to send an email is worth the effort even if it only helps Congress to put more time and money into investigating CCD.

This after all the states that have implemented policies to kill all the ferals? It seems unlikely. But as long as they put some reasonable exceptions in, it seems like a nice idea.

I hope CCD has shed a new light on some of these states who want total feral destruction. I was at first disappointed with the Medias excessive and over the top coverage of CCD, but now think it may be of use to us, unlike the "killer bee" coverage of the 80s. I was in the check out line of the grocery store the other day when the cashier asked why I needed so much sugar. When I replied I was feeding bees....she went off on a 10 minute rant about CCD and that is when I realized that people are paying attention.
