Can someone tell me why, every now and then, a hive will throw a super or 2 of very, very dark honey. This hive could be in a yard with other hives and be the only one with this color honey. Almost black and thick as engine oil in winter. Flavor is okay but not particularly bright and crisp.

I guess it might make sense that if one hive found a good source of dark nectar, they would dance the location to the rest of the colony, but the other hives might never happen upon it.
