Maine beekeeper, thanks for the "Ruby Red" honey. It was great. It was really a clear red! I didn't think honey that dark could taste that good. What was the wildflower that was close to white? Thanks again, and I like those containers the best, I'm gonna buy those next time.

MadBow-
I'm so glad you like it!
The light was early spring - I've got to say mostly apple and crabapple. I had a hive that went queenless early (my fault I'm sure) and I didn't notice until early July. The entire top box was literally packed full of capped honey so I extracted it, put the frames back, and gave them a nuc via newspaper.
All my other hives brought that nectar in too, I'm sure but it went to the brood nest, not the honey supers.
That hive produced one super of beautiful red honey later in August and now are going into winte r "snug as bugs in a rug"
I hope to get more of the early honey next year.
Thanks for the post. I've also really enjoyed all of my honey exchanges!!!
