Any reason not to use rough cedar in a tbh?
I have some laying around.....

I have some cedar that I used on my langs, and there isn't a problem. They will coat the inside with propolis and wax.
On the flip side it won't do much to repel moths either....

Cedar works fine. So does pine and it's cheaper. smile.gif

lol--I know about the cheaper, but I have a nice rough plank sitting at home, seems like if I did a top-entrance tbh with a propped cover, the rough area wouldn't hurt any in giving them a "grippy" surface, and since it's scrap at home, it's not any cheaper right now.
I certainly wouldn't pay full price, but you can often go to lumberyards and ask for "distressed" lumber, pick from their 1X12s and such for the ones where a corner got ripped up by a planer, there were too many knots, etc. and pick up cheap.

The bees won't care if it's rough. If you decide to scrape it inside, it will be harder, but if you don't it won't matter.
