Well it looks like we are moving to davenport iowa within the next two months, we just bought a house there last night. I wanted to know if anyone here is or knows beekeepers there and if they can share the political beekeeping climate. Are bees general accepted in residential neighborhoods or will I not be able to keep a few hives in my backyard and be limited to keeping bees in out-yards only?
I'll still be a florida beekeeper if things work out successfully as far as keeping bees commercially, but I want to have bees in iowa too. (not migratory)
Thanx

I just drove through Davenport yesterday. smile.gif I have no idea what it would be like to have bees in town there. I've had them in in town in Omaha, Lincoln, Bellevue and Mitchell Nebraska besides other places out in the country. I never really had a problem. I had to do a little education once with a neighbor, but he seemed to figure it out.

David,
Well, its not my first choice, it derails the beekeeping venture a bit, but I can still make it happen despite all the challenges of marriage.
Michael,
Well I can always have hives on farms and outyards, but there will never be anything like having a few (or several) in your backyard.

You always need a couple in the yard. Otherwise it wouldn't be home would it?
