Am I correct to assume that a follower board is A frame that has a board shaped the same as the interior of the hive ? One that limits the amount of space the bees work until they are sufficiently built up to take advantage of the entire space ? Thanks Rick

Yes. You can turn a regular deep into two nucs or just reduce the size of the brood area until the colony builds up. I have one of these: http://brushymountainbeefarm.com/products.asp?pcode=460. Both height and width adjust so you can use it in deeps, mediums or shallows.

Basically, yes. Usually it's a piece of wood cut to fit. A 1/4" sheet of laun plywood works well. Then cut a slot in a top bar and put it in. smile.gif

I have one. It didn't look like it would fit a medium. I'll try to take a closer look and make sure.

I looked at it and the plastic one does not adjust for mediums. Just deeps.

If you really want to, couldn't you just cut it down to fit a medium?

Because of how it is held together by sliding rivets and the location of those rivets, no. Not without reconstructing it all together.
