My Neighbors are complaining about my bees.
Some bother him when he is washing his cars. the hive is close to his driveway, with a row of low bushes separating them.
How could I best move this hive? If I move it would it make any difference, since bees fly within a 3 mile radius of their hive?
What legal stance does he have with such a complaint?
Thanks for your help.

>My Neighbors are complaining about my bees.
This question really should be in the bee forum. This forum is to talk about the chat room.
>Some bother him when he is washing his cars. the hive is close to his driveway, with a row of low bushes separating them.
A six foot fence usually helps, but it sounds like they may be looking for water. Providing a consistent source of water might also help.
>How could I best move this hive?
Move it where you want it and put a tree branch in front of it to trigger reorientation.
>If I move it would it make any difference, since bees fly within a 3 mile radius of their hive?
If their main traffic pattern is across his driveway it might make a big difference. But so would a six foot fence. Once you get a few yards from a hive you don't see many bees, especially if you divert them to a higher altitude.
>What legal stance does he have with such a complaint?
That would depend on how close it is to his property and what the local ordinances are.
Some towns have laws against having bees. Some have laws to insure you can have bees. Some have no laws concerning bees at all.

A neighbor certainly has the right to complain about numerous bees in their yard. If a beekeeper can not control them......... then move them.
As beekeepers we have to be sensitive to the fact that many folks out there are extremely uncomfortable around bees(irrational though it may be)
