There is a plastic tabletop honey container that BetterBee lists on page 47 of thier new 2007 catalog.
It states that this particular container "can not be refilled".

Why in todays world of waste and trying to be "green", are there companies designing, promoting, and selling a jar that is made not to be refilled? I would not buy a container such as this for the principle of it.

Is there a mechanical or design reason that this bottle is a throw away item?

the design reason is called MONEY, that's the green they know.

Hello bjornbee,
I suspect it is a PET container which are designed to be recycled and not reused, particularly as a commercial product. I suspect if you reuse your own container it will be fine but hot water and detergents will start to degrade the container.
thanx,

I think it is for those selling to restaurants. To keep people from vandalizing the honey, but I don't see the mustard in one.
