1974 Cowen extracting system

Greetings everyone -

I just visited with a beekeeper who is selling his fully operational 1974 Cowen extracting system - which contains:

Deboxer
Uncapper
Wax Collector
Auger
Conveyer
36 Frame Extractor
Honey Sump
Honey Pump
Hot water Unit

Any thoughts on it's value? I'm considering the purchase. If I decide not to, I'll post more information for anyone interested.

no idea on the value, but it does sound like a pretty slick set up. how many hives did the fellow run?

800-1200 - quite a few with just a 36 frame extractor.

just my humble guess but somthing like that brand new if they made it any more would run right around 10,000-12,000. but this is pretty old and i have no idea what shape it is in. i would offer him like 3,000-5,000$ just my opinian could be wrong but that is what i would pay for it. if you want i would call cowan up they will know right away, and they are great people to work with. regards Nick

Kelley's still sell a system.

Here is their 7200.00 + tax. This is 12 frame but they sell a 24 also. Because of the age of the one your looking at maybe the 3 to 5000.00 Nick talked about might be high.

OUCH-- Here is Cowens 28 frame model for only 15,295.00. I guess Nick was right about his estimated price.
