Do you prefer 5 frame deep nucs (9 1/2") or medium nucs(6 5/8")?

I prefer deep myself. Most of my hives are in double deeps.

I run all mediums. I prefer the nucs that match my brood chambers, and that is mediums.

I've seen this question before

if you have deep equipment, and I have medium nucs, you just put my medium stuff in your deep equipment and they draw a little natural comb on the bottom

If I have deep nucs and you have mediums equipment, I just lost a sale

To me its not about one or the other, having deep or mediums. Its about having the product that people want, and are willing to pay money for.

I'm sure I'll never ask someone to place my mediums in thier deeps, and have comb hanging down under the frames, in some attempt to make a sale. If they think of it, fine. But thus far, I have had both mediums and deeps to fill any request so far.

So far, I would say that 90% of sales are deeps, 10% mediums.

smile.gif Yes. I inherited quit a few deeps with bees on them which I sold as nucs. I think there's two hives with some deeps still in them and one Dadant deep. Generalizations are never quite true, are they?

Shall I try again? I run MOSTLY mediums. My GOAL is to run all mediums. smile.gif
