I wanted to warn anyone about feeding bees with the jars outside the intrance of the hives. I had several of them and when I put in packages, noticed that one jar was just not being emptied. I assumed the bees in that hive were just pulling in nector. Well, I was wrong. After noticeing a large pile of dead bees at the interance, I took a close look at the feeder. The holes in the lid were not stamed deep enough and there was no feed comming out. I had never even thought of that before. Lesson learned. I may loose that hive becuae of a faulty lid.

Don't let it happen to you.

hey Bill

check out http://www.beesource.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=002412#000000. I sure like these & they're cheeeep! smile.gif I use plastic peanuts inside a plastic coffee can to cover the funnel; couldn't get the screen "ladders" to glue to funnel. seems to keep bees from drowning.
