cedar hives???

Someone told me to day that some bees leave a new cedar hive sometimes , i know cedar is good for some pest, (like fether mites on chickens, fleas, and etc.) i want to start some good , tuff wood hives and i want to get cedar , but i was told this . what do yall think ?

Cedar is fine ,but pine wont split as easily.No pest control advantage to cedar,and it isnt repellent to bees.I have lots of cedar extracting supers in use.I built 40 comb honey boxes from new cedar boards and the bees filled them all.(Western Incense Cedar)

I have a couple of supers that are cedar. They are nice and lightweight. They never rot. They get wax moths just the same. The bees don't seem to care one way or the other. I don't think it's worth the extra cost to buy cedar, but it is a perfectly good wood for hives. Cypress has most of the same qualities, rot resitant, light weight etc. but is usually cheaper than cedar.
