Does anyone have any experience replacing the heating element on the Maxant uncapping plane?

I am having trouble removing the old element (I am not much of a handyman). It is stuck in the tube and I am at a loss as to how to get it out. Any ideas?

Thanks.

I don't know what they look like inside at all. I always try finesse and when that fails, brute force. http://www.beesource.com/ubb/smile.gif

Always follow the carpenter's creed: "Measure it with a micrometer, mark it with chaulk, cut it with an ax and drive it in with a sledge hammer"

The uncapping planes that I used years ago seemed to butn out much faster than uncapping knives.

odfrank - agreed. lasted one season.

Michael - Had to drill it out - I guess that would be "brute force."
