I know not to paint the inside of the hive but do I paint the inside of the bottom board next to the bees? Got some bottom boards in today that are not painted. Going to paint the outside but trying to decide about inside.

I never have, it'd be a waste of time(IMO).

It doesn't hurt to paint them on all sides. IMO it doesn't hurt not to either.

Manufacturers and sellers of woodenware will generally recomend that you paint all sides of bottoms, inner covers, and tops. The idea is that all high moisture areas should be painted.

I don't paint insides of supers/broods, I figure that propolis will seal them well enough in time.

I paint the whole bottom board. I don't always have bees on every bottom board and like to leave them on end in the beeyard.
