I was looking to rear some of my own queens this summer and interested in the hopkins method of rearing queens. My Q is the hopkins method said to put the frame of brood on top of the brood about 2 to 3 inchs. but now how do i put the cover on the hive ? Is there a frame or cover for this method of rearing queens? Help
thanks

I don't recall ever seeing any commercially available box or cover for use with this method. It would be easy enough to make your own. Take an old box (even a shallow would work), cut a vertical rabbit inside on the two short sides (to accept the ears of the frame) and tack a piece of wood on both sides to hold the frame up. A quick job even with just a hand saw, hammer and chisel.
