I've read dozens of posts and corresponded with Dr. R, and never actually picked up on what the thymol does. I have fogged 3 weeks in a row now with thymol and I'm getting scary huge numbers on the sticky board ( 150 to 300 in 24 hours )
All the fallen mites are dead , maybe from the oil on the sticky boards, maybe from the thymol.
What does the thymol do ?

The Thymol is an instant kill for the mites.

I would take it then that Dr Rodruigez has played with the dosage levels and found this to be a lot like treating cancer with chemo or radiation.. The cure has to come close to killing you (the bees) before it kills the cancer (mites)otherwise we would just be able to crank up the doseage and get better results.
He has been supportive of my use of the oxalic acid which I have been reporting here and encouraging me to do a second treatment.
I hope to be more diligent next year with the fogging to avoid this mess.
