Has anyone used "light white mineral oil NF" to treat varroa and trecheal mites? I bought it from the local vet and would like to knopw if I could treat bees with it? It is being used for Bloated animals..

My understanding is you are talking about
FGMO. It's the same stuff you can get at
Wallmart or Kmart.

I did some research and it is being used on food products, like on wrappers and such but it didnt say nothing about direct consumption. The stuff you buy at Walmart is "mineral oil USP" apparently "NF" is one grade below "USP"...

Then I would not mess with it when
food grade is available cheap.

The stuff in the vet supply area is usually much heavier oil and will not work correctly.

I use the mineral oil from wal-mart works well and 1 pint will fog about 300 hives you can't get much cheaper.
ste oil cost little more plus shipping will kill you.

You want to stick with the USP application.

when I was corresponding with Dr. R he was quizzing me about what kind of thymol I had received. I thought it was natural and gave him all the data off the label. He responded that the NF on the label meant it was synthesized, not natural.
I assume the NF on the mineral oil would mean the same thing.

.
There enough good and tested procedures to control varroa. There is no need to use hobby inventions. smile.gif I use trickling oxalic acid.

I used mineral oil and thymol. It worked. Now I don't need to use anything. I like some hobby inventions. smile.gif

You have trachea mite resistant bee stocks in USA. Are they wide spread?
