While fogging today, my fogger decided to flare up. Fortunately, I saw it immediately and was able to react. The small burn mark was on the hive stand, not the bottom board or super. A few entrance bees were incinerated . I only admit this because i want to warn all who use any fogger to be vigilant. I may have briefly dropped the front of the fogger. However I do not believe this should happen in the milisecond that this may have occurred. Those things are dangerous. The hive seems to be fine but I feel bad about what I did. BE

I have heard a number of people talk about the burgess flaring up.
Curiosity.....Has anyone ever had a Bonide to flare up. I haven't heard of one.
I actually keep mine tilted back just a hair to prevent this from happening. Oil in the nozzle equals a flamethrower!

I hade fun with mine one time. It was a little breezy and the flame kept blowing out. I really wanted to get them fogged cause I had missed a week and did'nt want to go two. So, I was using a propane torch to heat the coil. Worked great untill I found I had an "Arnold" style flame thrower in my hands! "I'll be back" but on a calm day!

P.S. I have found since then that if I fog every week wit out fail, I can miss a week with out problems.

It also could be low on propane.... When a propane bottle starts getting low it can cause any type of toruch to flareup....
I have a torch from harbor freight that I use to heat my tires on my go-kart(racing kart) and it will flareup when the bottle get low... just change it out and it will go away....well till it gets low again... smile.gif
