Is there any way for the propane to get into the FGMO fog? I started my fogger today and the fog smelled like propane. It could have been from the coil but I'm a little worried about fogging my bees with propane.

With any propane fired device, one can have
the valve open "too far", and have unburnt
propane coming out the nozzle. Much like
a propane torch, you want to adjust the
knob until you get a nice blue flame.
(I dunno if this is possible to do with
the specific fogger you have - can you even
SEE the flame?)

Don't be worried about the bees, be much
more worried about the potential for that
propane you can smell suddenly igniting,
making you the proud owner of a flame thrower.

Bottom line - if you can smell gas, you aren't
burning it, you are leaking it.

I have a model #1443. It says to turn the knob 1/4 of a turn, maximum. I saw a little flame but not much. I'll turn it down and watch out. Thanks for the advice.

APK,The gas and oil delivery lines on your Burgess model #1443 are completely independent of each other, hence no propane is possible to be delivered in the fog discharge,If this model is lit(flame is not visible) to the instructions on the fogger label and as in the comprehensive owners manual, no raw propane will be smelt.Expect a slight leakage which can be smelt when releasing the bottle (once fogger is completely cooled down)The fogger is unique technology and it is parimount that the coil assembly reaches and maintains the correct operating temperature before and during operation to deliver a white dry fog.The test for this is on page 8 of the operators manual.Because of the nature of propane it would not be advisable to operate the fogger if you can smell gas.Adjusting the fuel valve outside specification is not a fix.Best to arrange return to factory for a replacement/repair.

Bob.
Thanks for posting and demonstrating your engeneering expertise. It is appreciated to the nth power. I hope that innovators will listen to your advise since it is obvious that my warnings are being ignored as usual.

Bob,
I'll see about returning it. The smell could have been residual from when I screwed the tank in but its better to be safe then sorry. Thanks for your help.
