I wanna check signals here with some of you folks.
Early this summer I made a set of shims to fit cord trays built on the priciples set down by Doc R. I'll have to tell you that I am incapable of building them as thin as the Doc; mine were 3/l6 deep but set into a 3/4 inch shim.
After a week I changed cords and had a hard time pulling the tray. The second week I almost did not get the tray out. The third week I pulled the end off a tray. That was the last time I attempted to pull the cord trays---no fresh cords since.
I am fogging regularly and my bees appear healthy. They have active drones and when I pulled supers to extract I found healthy drone brood in the hives.
The cord trays are stuck hard to the top of the frames of the brood nest. The space around them in the shim is full of burr comb. It appears that I simply added a 3/4 inch super with no frames.
Anyone else using the cord trays? How about a report?
Doc; if you are out there, what progress with the new system for using cords?
