Dr. Rodriguez,
Has anyone experimented with extending the treatment periods? Maybe every two months? To see how long between treatments a hive can go.

Hi Billy and others.
You have a legitimate question.
Here go some observations for your consideration.
1. Have found that the best frequency of treatment, best results, are found whne treatments (fogger and emulsion combined) are repeated every 15 days. I have strectched it to 21 days with a notable rise in Varroa counts.
2. We are testing 30 day periods in Spain this year. It is still to early to tell or even guess what the results will be.
Remains to be seen.
I do not know of any one who has extended treatments beyond this. It would be interesting to find out what, if any, have seen.

Do you treat every 15 days yearround? Do you replace the treated ropes every 15 days when you fog?

Hello to All.
Yes, to both questions.
We have found that is the ideal frequency of application of both treatments. We also found that with some typesof cord the bees do not have enough time to remove the cords and
we take advandge and soak them in the emulsion once more and use them again.
This reduces the cost of the treamtnet more yet.
What we do is tha take two buckets to the yard, one with the fresh emulsified cords and the other to place the cords that we remove.
Granted, that this does not happen with all types of cords and that in some colonies, the bees remove the cords soon after we place them.

You say that treatment should continue year round, yet in a reply to Dickm in his FGMO & sugar post, you state to treat until the first frost and then not until spring. I am confused on this point.
