14 foot is my favorite size. You can sleep six with a fire if you have to and four with their gear and a fire are cozy and you can pitch it with no difficulty by yourself. You can pitch an 18' by yourself, but you'll have to make some kind of ladder to lace it up and the lifting is harder and the poles are longer. Of course I pitch my tipis a foot off the ground (with the liner on the ground) so it comes to a 15 foot when it's all said and done.

Thanks for the advice Michael. I have a family of three , sounds like a 14 footer would be good as I'm on my own as far as setting up.
